A Framework for Accountability

We all make agreements everyday. We make agreements with ourselves. We make agreements with our partners. We make agreements with our children. And a lot of these agreements fly under the radar of our conscious awareness; we don't even acknowledge them as agreements. And those we do acknowledge we struggle to remember. It can damage our relationships and our self-esteem when we fail to uphold our agreements. We want to uphold them, but modern life has become so busy, so full, so rich with opportunities and challenges, that we frequently fail to live up to our potential and to be the people we want to be in the world.

We plan to change that. Consensual provides a framework for accountability. At it's simplest, Consensual keeps us on track to fulfill our intentions, meet the expectations of others, and give us peace of mind knowing we're doing what we said we would do. Ultimately, the same tools that support us in personal goals to eat better, exercise, and change unhealthy habits, can help us to manage our households, build our communities, and bring human civilization into the 21st century and beyond.

We need to hold ourselves and each other accountable. We can. And we will. But why do we need an app for it? Can't we just be good people? Well, why don't we just hold things together with our hands? Instead we've made nails. And why don't we just bang them in with rocks? Instead we've made hammers. Technology is the natural extension of our minds into the world around us. And it's good to know our limits. We're reaching many of those limits today. The amount of information we're exposed to on a daily basis is greater than ever before. And with more information the complexity of decisions is increasing. And we're agreeing to more things than we can realistically track. That's not good for us, it's not good for our relationships, and it's not good for the planet. If we can delegate some of this essential function of accountability to technology, we should.

We know this is a big idea. But we're serious about making it happen. And you can help.
